So, in order to get myopia, here’s what we do: we stare at something for a long time, usually close up. Most common things today’s that cause myopia more than anything else did before our our computers. We stare at them for ours close up, and so our eyes not only become lazy and get myopia, but also become quite unhealthy – soar eyes, for example. This is because, according to recent research, we blink up to five times less than normal, when working with a computer! Just think about that – no wonder we start getting soar eyes. In my newsletter, I’ve covered things like this – how to prevent this from happening. It’s quite easy, once you understand it.
But let’s get back to the topic this article is about. While we’re sitting and looking at things close up, then there’s stress that comes in from everywhere, and what we do is we tense our body, mind and our eye muscles. This is the root of the problem for myopia – tensed muscles. Once muscles tense, you need to relax them so that they return to their previous state And it’s really easy to do at that stage – a lot easier than later on, once our vision deteriorates.

Our vision deteriorates because as soon as we start having vision problems, we go to an ophthalmologist, who then prescribes us with glasses. And you know what? As soon as that happens, our eyesight becomes deteriorating! No matter what your doctors tells you, it starts deteriorating as soon as you put these lenses on your nose, because it’s like putting a monitor or a book in front of your eyes for 15 ours a day. Andthat really sucks, big time, because instead of quickly helping your eyes to get back your 20/20, you’re making them work harder. We all do. and it’s not so much our own fault. It’s the problem of our money-driven society we live in. If your doctor told you that you can reverse bad vision, you’d do it, and so he’ll lose you as a client. Don’t believe me? Now, what do our eye exercises do? In short, once we get bad vision, there are some eye muscles, which we stop suing. Eye exercises are needed in order to help these eye muscles get used again. The root of the problem for bad vision is in tensed eye muscles, as we learnt above, and so what we therefor need is we need to relax these tensed eye muscles, so that we regain our vision.

While there is dispute amongst many eye specialists whether eye exercises can improve visual clarity, however, there are also counter arguments that they can certainly help certain conditions. For example, there is growing opinion that eye exercises can help in maintaining good eyesight for a long time by strengthening and improving the flexibility of the eye muscles that are used for focusing the lenses of the eyes.      Find a Complete Eyesight Exercises Guide to Improve Eyesight 

    First of all, begin by sitting comfortably in a chair. Then look at the tip of your nose, focusing your gaze on it, without blinking. Count to ten, and then relax by closing your eyes. Repeat five times.

    Keeping your head straight, facing forward, look at your right shoulder with both your eyes, remaining in that position for a count of ten. Then relax by closing your eyes. Repeat on the other side. Do this five times on each side.

    Imagine you are facing a large clock. Focus your gaze on the center of the clock. Then, without moving your head, turn your gaze on any hour mark, count to ten, and bring your gaze back to the center. Then pick some other hour mark, and repeat. Do this about ten times, picking out various hour mark positions on the clock. This exercise can also be done with closed eyes.

    Sit at a distance of about 200 mm, or 6 inches from a window after making a mark on the glass at eye level. You could use a small red or black colored sticker. Now, gaze beyond this mark, focusing on something at a distance for a count of 10 to 15, and then bring your gaze back on the mark. Repeat five times.

    Hold some object – say a pen – at arm’s length in front of you. Then, bring the pen gradually towards your nose, while you keep your gaze focused on it. Then, take it back to arm’s length again. Repeat this five to ten times.

    Sit in a relaxed position and roll your eyeballs five times in a clockwise direction, and then counterclockwise.

    Shut your eyes, squeezing tightly, and hold for 3 to 5 counts, and then open them wide and hold for 3 to 5 counts. Do this 5 to 10 times.

    Shut your eyes in a relaxed manner, then using the tips of three of your fingers massage them using circular movements for about 1 to 2 minutes, making sure to keep it very light, or you could hurt your eyes.

    Open your eyes and look into the distance, as far as your gaze can go, without focusing on anything. This can be done for a few minutes frequently during the day, especially if you use a computer for extended periods.

    Tips and Cautions on doing Eye Exercises

    • You don’t have to do eye exercises for a long time at a stretch, which may actually cause strain. It is better to do them regularly, but at short durations, each session lasting about 1 to 2 minutes.
    • Do get an OK from an eye doctor before attempting to do any eye exercises. After all, you do not want to exacerbate any condition by straining your eyes any further.
    • It’s best to remove your contact lenses, if you use them, before doing any eye exercises.

    Several years ago, I began to notice that I was having trouble reading small print … this started with reading ingredients on small containers and progressed to real difficulty with reading the phone book, and then small print in books.

    Off I went to an Optometrist, who measured my vision in a variety of ways and told me that I needed a pair of reading glasses. I was only a little surprised by this, but asked him if there was anything I could do to improve my vision, and got a flat ‘no’ as the answer. He explained that over age 40, close vision worsens … he added that within a few years, I should expect to need bifocal lenses, which would correct my vision at both near and far distances.

    Somehow, this just didn’t seem quite right to me … and so I went off to see another Optometrist, where my vision was measured, and I was told exactly the same thing, almost word for word.

They were completely uninterested, and actually spoke as though they had not heard what I was saying at all.

    What was going on here? … this question led me through a series of training programs and countless hours of study of this whole phenomenon called “Natural Vision Improvement” as discovered by William Bates over 70 years ago. Since 1996, I have been privileged to teach many individuals and watched them improve their eyesight, many of them leaving glasses behind or avoiding surgery.
